Dragon Ball Z Creator Akira Toriyama Dies at the Age of 68

The creator of your favorite manga anime Goku, Dragon Ball, and Dragon Ball Z Akira Toriyama died on 1st March 2024 in his studio due to subdural hematoma.

Moreover, his surgery was due in the upcoming weeks but his life was planned the other way. He was famously known as the Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama. The series is available in cartoon and film versions. The comic series made its debut in 1984.

Suppose we start to dig into Toriyama’s career its a long journey of struggle since he started to draw anime. At the age of 23, he quit his job and took a small amount of money from her mother to start working as a manga artist. He is now known as Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama but he had a long journey behind this title. 

After struggling for a year in 1978 he finally got his first break in Wonder Island which was published in Weekly Shonen Jump. His journey was surrounded by many ups and downs but he never gave up on his dream and continued his work in the manga industry.

Torishima asked Toriyama to draw a female lead character which he presented in 1979 “Tomato the Cutesy Gumshoe” which became a hit. 

Getting enough courage from this he drew another artwork with a female lead called “Dr. Slump.” It was published in the magazine from 1980 to 1984. It was based on a robot named Arale.

In 1981 Akira Toriyama was awarded the Shogakukan Manga Award for his work in Dr. Slump. 35 million copies of Dr. Slump were sold in Japan. In the early 1980s, Toriyama started his own production house under the name “Bird Studio.”

After getting seven dragon balls Goku has now become the Earth’s greatest hero and defeated the evil Boo. however, a new threat is on their way in which they have to defend their planet by defeating Beerus. Dragon Quest 

After becoming famous as Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama theatrical work consists of short stories that belong to the early time of his career. He worked as an illustrator as well as a story writer.

Furthermore, he was a very shy person and usually hid from the media and the audience.

On 1st March 2024, Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama died due to blood clots in his brain. His funeral was attended by his close friends and family. On March 8 Birth Studio his official production house revealed the news to the public. 

Government spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi spoke a few words by applauding the great work of Toriyama in the industry:

“Mr. Toriyama’s work has led to the widespread recognition of Japan’s content around the world,” 

Eiichiro Oda the creator of One Piece revealed that Toriyama was like a big tree who provided shadow and guidance to the younger artists. 

“He showed us all these things manga can do, a dream of going to another world. His death leaves “a hole too big to fill,”

Moreover, his company revealed that before leaving this world Toriyama was working on many unfinished projects. 

“He was working enthusiastically on many projects, and there was still much he was looking forward to accomplishing,”

He was trending on a Chinese app called Weibo with more than 450 million views.
